RULES

Countdown Timer -
*There is a timer on the Nascar Challenge Home Page and on the Submit Page. Your picks must be in before the timer runs out. If you do not send your picks in before the timer runs out you will be stuck with the same drivers you had from the last race week.

New for 2010 – The timer will vary this year. The timer will be reset for each race. Sometimes it may fall on a Sat and sometimes Fri. If it’s a Sat night race, the timer will run out at 11:59pm Fri night. If it’s a Sun race, the timer will run out at 11:59PM on Sat night. (This change was needed so I can actually plan events with my family and not be stuck at the desk updating picks on race day) Practices and qualifying will have already been completed by midnight before race day. There will be no new info to help you with race picks, so I feel this is fair. Again, if your picks are not sent (time stamped by my new submission process) you will have to keep the same drivers from the last time you sent them in.

Scoring –
*The scoring is simple. The score for each driver is where they place. For example. If you pick Jeff Gordon as one of your drivers and he places 7th your score would look like this;
Jeff Gordon = 7  The lowest score wins. So you want your drivers to finish as close to the top as possible.
Bonus -
* The bonus is awarded to any player that can pick the winning driver to actually win the race. YOU HAVE TO PICK THE DRIVER THAT WINS AS YOUR WINNING DRIVER to win the bonus. The bonus means you get to drop your worst place driver. Example;
Winning Driver
Jeff Gordon-
1st Jimmie Johnson-2nd
Remaining 9 Drivers
Dale Jr-
3rd Dale Jr-3rd
Jimmie Johnson-
2nd Jeff Gordon-1st
Carl Edwards-
7th Carl Edwards-7th
Greg Biffle-
22nd Greg Biffle-22nd
Mark Martin-
6th Kasey Kahne-8th
Kyle Busch-
43rd Mark Martin-6th
Kasey Kahne-
8th Kyle Busch-43rd
Kevin Harvick-
4th Kevin Harvick-4th
Kurt Busch-
23th Jamie McMurray-9thLOOKS LIKE PHILIP WON RIGHT? WRONG!
Mike had Jeff Gordon as his winning driver and he actually won. Now he gets to drop his worst place driver which was Kyle Busch scoring 43rd. Now Mike’s score calculated is;
119
- 43
=76  Now putting Mike winning over Philip by 29 points. This shows you that the only way to win the bonus is to have your winning driver win the race. Philip had the winning driver Jeff Gordon but it was his 3rd driver choice unlike Mike’s 1st (Winning Driver) choice.
AGAIN, YOUR WINNING DRIVER MUST WIN THE RACE TO CLAIM THE BONUS. IT DON’T COUNT IF YOU HAVE THE WINNING DRIVER AS YOUR 2ND CHOICE OR LOWER. YOU MUST HAVE HIM AS YOUR WINNING DRIVER!

TOTAL =119                              TOTAL=105

Failure to qualify or not make the race-
If you pick a driver (or forget to pick and the timer runs out) that does not qualify for a race you will score 44 points for that driver. It is your responsibility to change your driver picks in the event that a driver did not make the race. NO EXCEPTIONS!

If a driver has qualified for a race, but for some reason is injured or too ill to drive, you will get the points earned for that race. In that case, you watched qualifying and knew a certain would be driving and that influenced your pick. But, if you pick a driver that does not even qualify, you get a big FAT 44!

Timer violation-
The timer is needed so all picks are in so I can update the page so that other players can print out the picks to keep score during the race. If you fail to get your picks in before the timer runs out you will have to keep the same picks you last submitted for the previous race.
Duplicate Driver Picks-
You can not have duplicate drivers in one week. If that were the case you could put Jimmie 5 times and Jr 5 times to make your ten drivers. In the event that you send your picks with the same driver listed twice, you will get the 44 point penalty. That’s the worst score available, the same as leaving a driver off your list or selecting a driver that don’t even make the race. Please check your form carefully before you send your picks!
Penalties can not be dropped-
In the event you pick the winning driver, and also scored a penalty of 44 points, you are not allowed to drop that penalty driver.
Example;
If you were penalized for picking Boris Said because he didn’t make the race scoring you 44, you can’t drop him from your list after your winning driver wins. Actually he was never in the race and will not be anywhere from position 1-43.

Same goes if you pick a driver twice. The driver may do well and score 7, but you can’t get 7 twice. You would get 7 & 44. If you pick the winning driver you can’t drop that penalty, because the moment you put that driver down again, he was void. Dale Jr or any other driver can’t race against themselves in the same race. We do not clone drivers.

If you have a problem understanding the rules, disagree or have some ideas of others that I have missed, please let me know. Thanks for playin’ and good luck.

WE WILL ALSO BE DOING SOMETHING DIFFERENT THIS YEAR.

WHEN THE CHASE ARRIVES, WE WILL BE CLOSING THE GAP ON THE TOP PLAYERS. THE DETAILS ARE NOT YET CLEAR BUT WILL BE REVEALED SOON. IN THE PAST, THE LEADER HAS RAN AWAY WITH IT NOT GIVING ANYONE A CHANCE. THIS WILL BE MORE LIKE THE REAL RACING.

Let’s say you played hard but are 300 points out of first. At the end we close it up and you get 10 races to fight for it again. Only so many top players will be rewarded for their hard serious game play.

Points will be based on wins and or winning driver picks. Details coming soon…
